Iwaki, March 2021 — Tungaloy has expanded its BoreMeister ID turning tool system with solid steel boring bars with a cylindrical shank in 4xD depth capacity and TungCap adapters with polygon-shank coupling (PSC) machine side connection in depth capacities of 2.5xD, 3xD, and 5xD, covering a comprehensive range of ID turning applications.
BoreMeister is a modular style ID turning tool system that consists of anti-vibration boring bars and various styles of exchangeable cutting heads that carry different types of insert geometries, enabling numerous tool combinations. This versatility boosts productivity and provides manufacturers with a great degree of flexibility and efficiency in their ID turning processes. BoreMeister is currently known for its unique anti-vibration boring bars that integrate a dynamic vibration dampening mechanism built inside the tool body. This dampener counter-vibrates and effectively suppresses unwanted vibrations in challenging conditions, enabling deep ID turning application of up to 10xD.
The newly introduced boring bars with cylindrical shank are of simple design made of solid steel. They are available in 4xD depth capacity in diameters: 16, 20, 25, 32, and 40 mm and 1.00″, 1.25″, 1.50″, 2.00″, and 2.50″ in the imperial sizes. The new TungCap adapters are offered either with size C4 or C6 PSC connection, made of either steel or carbide, in 2.5xD, 3xD, and 5xD depth capacities and all feature a serrated connection for BoreMeister cutting heads. Furthermore, the new boring bars and adapters are available with through-coolant capability, making the tools especially effective for machining exotic materials where chip control is generally challenging.
