Iwaki, Japan – August 2026 – Tungaloy Corporation (President: Satoshi Kinoshita, Head Office: Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture) announces the expansion of its TetraMini-Cut series, a high-rigidity, four-cutting-edge multifunctional grooving tool series, with the addition of two new grades for non-ferrous metal machining: DS2005, offering excellent adhesion and wear resistance, and KS05F, an uncoated carbide grade.

In non-ferrous metal machining, materials such as aluminum and resin are widely used across a range of fields, including automotive part manufacturing. However, these materials tend to cause built-up edge, leading to surface quality degradation and dimensional inaccuracies during machining. Additionally, chips tend to adhere and become entangled, making smooth cutting and tool-life maintenance difficult and increasing the need for more efficient machining solutions. To respond to these market needs, developing grades with superior resistance to built-up edge and wear has become an urgent priority.

Product Overview

TetraMini-Cut is Tungaloy’s high-performance grooving and multifunctional tooling system. It covers groove widths from 0.33 mm to 3.18 mm and groove depths up to 3.5 mm, making it ideal for shallow grooving applications ranging from small precision-component machining to general turning operations. Equipped with through-coolant holders and low cutting-force chipbreaker geometries, TetraMini-Cut delivers high productivity and excellent chip control. A wide range of grades, including CBN, is available to cover various workpiece materials. The same holder can accommodate inserts for external grooving/parting-off, face grooving, and threading operations, providing excellent versatility.
