Tungaloy Adds New Insert Grades to TungSixDrill Series

Introducing Two New PVD Coated Grades with High Reliability and Wear Resistance

Iwaki, Japan, July 15, 2024 – Tungaloy Corporation (President: Satoshi Kinoshita, Headquarters: Iwaki, Fukushima) announces the addition of two new insert grades, AH7020 and AH7030, for its TungSixDrill series of indexable drills.

Overview
TungSixDrill is an indexable drill series that maximizes economy by adopting double-sided 6-corner inserts. This versatile and economical drilling tool series covers tool diameters from φ20 mm (φ 0.787”) to φ54 mm (φ 2.126”) and offers three body lengths with L/D ratios of 2, 3, and 4. The inserts are available in two types: the DJ type, which balances sharpness and edge strength for general use, and the DS type, which excels in chip control for stainless steel and mild steel. The combination of these inserts with bodies that offer excellent chip evacuation ensures stable machining across a wide range of materials.

The newly added PVD coated grades, AH7020 and AH7030, feature the latest thick coatings with high-titanium content for improved wear resistance. The outer layer consists of a titanium-rich nano-layered coating, providing both wear and chipping resistance, resulting in stable and long tool life.

AH7030, the primary recommended grade, offers exceptional reliability with a tough substrate, ensuring stable performance across a broad range of materials. AH7020, on the other hand, is optimized for high-speed machining in steel and cast iron, emphasizing wear resistance for high-efficiency machining.

With the addition of these two grades, AH7020 and AH7030, TungSixDrill can achieve stable long tool life in a wider range of drilling applications, significantly contributing to cost reduction and productivity improvement.
