Iwaki, September 2021 — Tungaloy has announced the expansion of its TungCut multifunctional grooving and parting-off tool system with 21 total new inserts in a 2.0 mm width as well as imperial specifications.
A multifunctional grooving and parting-off line, TungCut offers a wide range of insert and toolholder variations that provide customers with maximum performance in OD/ID grooving, face grooving, groove turning, and parting operations. With strong and reliable insert clamping, TungCut guarantees minimum tool chatter, while providing maximum precision and tool life during heavy duty grooving such as groove turning.
Four geometries are available for 2.0 mm cutting width: DGL for controlled chip flow at low feed rates; multifunctional DTX covering a range of applications such as OD grooving, face grooving, and groove turning; and DTR and STR featuring a full-radius cutting edge for profiling applications. The new inserts are offered in three grades: general purpose AH7025 grade, AH8005 grade for superior machining performance in heat-resistant alloys, and KS05F uncoated grade dedicated for non-ferrous applications.
TungCut inserts are now available in imperial specifications as well. Two geometries are offered in this expansion: DGM, the first choice geometry for OD grooving and parting-off applications and DGS that retains sharp cutting edge over an extended period of time, ensuring free cutting action in various materials. Both geometries are offered in four cutting widths: 3/32″, 1/8″, 3/16″, and ¼″ and in versatile grade AH7025, first choice for grooving applications. With the addition of imperial size inserts, it now takes TungCut one single cut to complete an inch size groove. This eliminates the need for an additional cut for fractions of millimeters, as is the case when using a metric insert, to achieve the final inch width.
