MATRIX opened the door to a lean business structure
Before using MATRIX
We started considering buying MATRIX to make the most out of our inventory of more than 10,000 items stored for sale. Our challenges were: (1) slow response to our customers' inquiries about available items since we had to make a trip to our warehouse to reply; (2) we didn't have access to our inventory at our remote warehouses, so our product lineup overlapped among different locations; and (3) it took a lot of time for stock-taking due to manual work. We decided to use MATRIX to solve these problems and also because its easy-to-use GUI as well as smart cabinet design that fit in our office looked appealing.
Benefits Brought by MATRIX
MATRIX greatly sped up our response to our customers' inquiries. When the customer calls in to ask for our availability on tools, we could quickly check our stock status on PC without going to the warehouse and reply on the spot. We can now see the inventory status of all four warehouses from our PC, so we managed to reduce duplicated items across our warehouses also. Not only that, MATRIX simplified our account closure and stock-taking tasks. We had multiple workers physically count the items previously, but after we installed MATRIX, all the quantities and values could be extracted from the system with a few clicks without the need for time and manpower. We will continue accumulating and analyzing our usage data to reduce slow-moving stocks and replace them with items in high demand, all aiming to build a stronger inventory system that meets our customers' needs.
Our Unique Idea on Using MATRIX
We are currently using 10 MATRIX units and need more units to store all our products in the system. Since MATRIX cabinets are sturdy and won't be damaged even with an earthquake, we keep fragile items in them while the other items are placed in traditional cabinets and registered in the MATRIX system. We also set minimum inventory levels for top-selling products to prevent them from running out of stock.
